# hoy.upr.edu - dead-link inventory

Reconstruction of *La Universidad Hoy* (UPR presidential transition site,
published September 2009) from the Wayback Machine.  This report lists what could
**not** be recovered, so it can be matched against personal backups.

The last row is the honest headline. Measured only over resources the
site hosted itself the figure is 710/713 (99.6%), but that silently
excludes 15 documents the site published from a Dropbox public folder,
which are equally gone. A reader clicking those links loses a document
either way, so they are counted as missing.

The site's own sitemap lists **83** content pages; **82** were recovered.

## Never captured - nothing to look for

No crawl ever captured these URLs, and whenever one was attempted the
server answered 404 - years after the link first appeared. Whether the
page ever existed cannot be settled from the archive, and no archived
copy exists to recover either way.

## Documents the site published from outside the site - 15 files

Linked from the site but stored in a Dropbox public folder. Dropbox
retired those links in 2017 and the Wayback Machine never captured the
files, because they were direct downloads behind a redirect. They are
missing in exactly the sense that matters to a reader.

## Embedded media

See `reports/EMBEDDED_MEDIA.md`. Video embedded via Google Sites gadgets
was never a file on the site, so no crawl can recover it; the gadget host
is also gone. Only the video ids survive in the archived markup.

## Excluded as Google Sites plumbing

19 unrecovered URLs were gadget iframes, revision endpoints, anchor ids,
`robots.txt` and similar.  They were never part of the site's content.
